Who needs to step up?? Interesting question. I think a guy you'll see step up is Slick Watts. But he needs to step up due to an abundance of opportunity rather than a lack of it! He's got a new sponsorship with Stall and Dean and just absolutely dropped jaws at the New Music Seminar in Cleveland. He can without a doubt be the next Kid Cudi- an Ohio guy who makes it out without having a traditional "Ohio" sound. He's a great person too- surrounded by a great team. I'm very proud of him!

James 'Slick' Watts has stayed true to his upbringings of Hill Street and Jaycee Manor and is true to his roots. Watts is inspired by family, life experiences and those who have since moved on from this life. His style has evolved over the years and is very diverse from the club joint "Oski Woski" to the deep track "25 to LIFE".

What is Slick Watts all about? "slick Watts is about Family!! I'm about grinding until I make it and not stopping until I do. Making real music for everybody no matter what walk of life. Watts presents 18 tracks for his fans on his newest CD, many of which tie into the theme of loyalty to family and friends, and staying true to your roots.
Did I mention that although he is "Slick" Watts in the media, but to me he is "Uncle James"? So therefore I listen to his music with a little bit of bias.

Of rap surnames, Lil and Young seem to be the current faves, regardless of age. When someone says they're "Slick," you probably think back to Slick Rick or maybe even A Pimp Named Slickback from the Cartoon Network's Boondocks. Since the homie John Ross has been blogging about Slick Watts' music for a second, I had to find out for myself if the name fit in this case. How slick is this man?
